AI Content Generator.
An n8n system that generates YouTube video ideas aligned with the channel's editorial line and turns approved ideas into complete scripts in Notion.
Why I made it
I create content about my journey on YouTube and LinkedIn, and the operational side ate up hours: coming up with ideas, checking whether they fit the channel, making sure I hadn't covered them already, writing the script, preparing the title, tags and description. Little time was left for what matters, which is recording and talking to my viewers.
The idea
The AI researches, structures and drafts. I review, personalize and publish. The system doesn't replace creativity, it takes the heavy lifting out of the way.
Notion became the center of everything, with a simple pipeline: Idea, Approved, Scripted, Filmed and Published. The AI only handles the first two transitions, and only after I approve.
Creative process
There are two workflows. The first generates five ideas at a time: before calling GPT-4o, it fetches the existing ideas from Notion so it doesn't repeat them, and builds the prompt with the channel's philosophy, content pillars, reference channels and voice rules. Each idea comes with a title, a hook for the first 30 seconds, audience, format and keywords.
The second runs every 30 minutes looking for ideas with the Approved status. When it finds one, it writes the full script, from hook to outro, with recording cues like [DRAMATIC PAUSE] and [ENERGY SHIFT], three title options for testing, thumbnail suggestions, tags and a description with timestamps.
Almost all the work went into the prompt. I tested different temperatures for each stage: higher (0.85) for generating ideas, where I want variety, and lower (0.75) for the script, where I want consistency.
Decisions I made
- Human approvalNo script is written until I change the status to Approved. I stay in control of what goes on the channel.
- Notion as the hubIt is where I already organized my content. The automation fits my routine, not the other way around.
- Channel memoryChecking previous ideas before generating new ones keeps the AI from suggesting the same thing every week.
- Built to be adaptedThe repository explains exactly where to change the identity, pillars and voice, so another creator can use it with their own channel.
What I took away
Good AI depends on good context. What made this system work wasn't the model, it was me writing clearly who I am, who I talk to and how I talk. Then came complementary workflows for a newsletter, Instagram and LinkedIn.
