Prompt Manager.

A browser app to create, search, edit and reuse AI prompts, built with nothing but HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Why I made it

I use AI every day, and my good prompts kept getting lost: one in a notepad, another in an old chat, another nowhere at all. The project started as a Rocketseat challenge, and I used it to turn the exercise into a tool I would actually use.

The idea

A simple place to keep prompts the way you keep recipes: title, content, search and a copy button. No account, no server. Open the browser and it's there.

Creative process

I chose to build it without a framework on purpose. I wanted to really understand how application state works when you control every piece of the DOM yourself: which prompt is selected, when saving creates a new one and when it updates an existing one, how the list filters as you type.

Once the basics worked, I went after the details that make a difference in daily use: a Ctrl + Enter shortcut to save, a sidebar that collapses to make room for the text and a button that copies straight to the clipboard.

Decisions I made

  • Plain JavaScriptNo React, no library. It was the way to learn the fundamentals before using abstractions.
  • localStoragePrompts are saved in the browser itself. For a personal manager, that does the job without needing a backend.
  • Real-time searchThe list filters with every letter you type, because finding a prompt has to be faster than writing a new one.

What I took away

I learned to think about state, validation and persistence without a framework's help. And I wrote down what is still missing: categories, JSON export and import, and a version that syncs across devices.
